PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the reduction of a thermister element caused by the oxidation of a cap member to obtain stable thermister characteristics in a temperature sensor. SOLUTION: The temperature sensor S detects the temperature of gas, or a temperature detection object, by allowing its tip to be inserted into an area in which the gas circulates from a mounting hole 1a provided on a partition 1. The temperature sensor S comprises: the thermister element 3 formed of an oxide semiconductor; a sheath wire 5 having a pair of lead wires 4 connected to the thermister element 3; a tubular cap member 7 which houses the thermister element 3 within its closed tip and passes the sheath wire 5 through the inside of a communicating part 6 provided facing the inner wall; and a base member 8 which has a through hole 8a into which the sheath wire 5 is inserted and fixes the inserted proximal end of the cap member 7 on the tip side in an airtight manner and can be mounted to the mounting hole 1a with its periphery being airtight.
