PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting device of the amount of displacement of a coupling implement which can surely indicate whether or not the relative mutual separation displacement of coupling parts exceeds the maximum permissible amount of displacement. SOLUTION: The detecting device 10 is constituted of a low extensibility string-shaped body 1 which is stuck to the surface of a rubber body 13 or attached thereto with a part thereof embedded. The string-shaped body 1 is stretched in the shape of a letter U along the length direction of a chain 12 in the initial state of the coupling instrument 20 and also the body is so disposed as to be ruptured at the time when a mutual separation distance between the coupling parts 11A is turned to the relative separation displacement in a predetermined amount equal to or less than the maximum permissible displacement amount in relation to the initial state.
