<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a large quantity of reduced-iron pellets by performing a suitable operation in a furnace when the reduced iron pellets are supplied into a vertical type furnace, such as blast furnace, cupola, by reducing iron oxide with a rotary hearth type reducing furnace. <P>SOLUTION: In the rotary hearth type reducing furnace, a powdery-molded product containing iron oxide and carbon, is heat-treated to produce the reduced iron pellet having 50-85% metallization percentage of iron. As the properties of this reduced iron pellet, the one having 20-50% porosity is produced. Classified treatment, etc., is performed, and the reduced iron pellet having ≥80% ratio of 5-20 mm in terms of diameter of the reduced iron pellet, is charged into the vertical furnace, such as the iron-making blast furnace or the cupola. Then, the molten iron is produced by reducing and melting the pellets with reducing gas generated by the reaction of the air blown from a tuyere at the lower part of the furnace with coke or fine coal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
