PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a total communication quantity from being reduced, by reducing the probability of collisions of transmission packets, without prolonging the collision avoidance time, in a radio communication apparatus that performs access control of a CSMA system. SOLUTION: When a packet transmission request is generated (t1), radio communication apparatuses B, C, D confirm by carrier sense that a radio channel has gone into a free state during distributed inter-frame space (DIFS) (t2), then produce random data of (n) bits and transmit the random data, by switching transmission/stop of a signal (carrier wave) for each time slot corresponding to the bits of the data. At the data transmission, while the transmission of the carrier wave is stopped with "0" bit under transmission, it is decided by carrier sense whether or not a signal from another apparatus is being received; and if the signal is being received, data transmission is stopped (refer to apparatuses B, D); but conversely, when all the bits are completely transmitted, it is decided that the right of transmission has been acquired, and transmission of the data packet (refer to apparatus C) is started.
