PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that it is sometimes impossible to detect a face in the case where an expansion multiplying factor of an image is large when an electronic finder is used. SOLUTION: This image pick-up device has an electronic finder function of displaying the images obtained by photographing by an image pick-up element (14) successively on an image display part (28). The image pick-up device has: an image process circuit (20) for performing a face detection process of detecting a region indicating a man's face from image data of the image obtained by the image pick-up element; an operation part (70) for setting the expansion multiplying factor of the image to be displayed on the image display part; and a system controller (50) for controlling so as to prohibit the face detection process in the case where the expansion multiplying factor is changed to a larger expansion multiplying factor than a predetermined upper limit expansion multiplying factor by the operation part.
