PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white light-emitting element of long life capable of generating white light of high color purity. SOLUTION: The white light-emitting element is provided with electrodes 3, 4 opposed to each other, a light-emitting layer A equipped with an organic material emitting EL light and/or inorganic nanoparticles, a light-emitting layer B equipped with inorganic nanoparticles emitting PL light, and reflective layers 5, 6 opposed to each other for resonating light generated at the light-emitting layer A inside the element, forming white light with light generated at the light-emitting layer A and light generated at the light-emitting layer B. Out of the above opposed electrodes 3, 4, one of the electrodes or a layer adjacent to the electrode has a total reflection function and is formed as one of the reflective layers 5, 6, and the other electrode or a layer adjacent to the electrode has a semitransparent reflection function and is formed as the other layer of the reflective layers.
