PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light transmitting optical fiber textile which uses an optical fiber as warp yarns and/or weft yarns, and by which the curvature of the optical fiber and the break or damage of a clad layer of the optical fiber at the crossing point of the warp yarn and the weft yarn can completely be suppressed. SOLUTION: The light transmitting optical fiber textile obtained by interweaving the optical fiber 1 as the warp yarn and/or the weft yarn 2 has at least one assistant yarn arranged so as to be adjacent to the optical fiber. The method for producing the textile interwoven with the optical fiber as the warp yarn and/or the weft yarn includes interweaving the assistant yarn having a diameter ratio to the optical fiber in the fiber cross-sections of 1.2-5.0 so as to adjoin the optical fiber.
