PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a half-Heusler thermoelectric material capable of obtaining a single phase not inclusive of a hetero-phase by a simple and short-time manufacturing process using liquid phase reaction sintering and applicable for industrial production. SOLUTION: The solid phase of a half-Heusler alloy composed of an intermetallic compound [Ti<SB>a</SB>Zr<SB>b</SB>Hf<SB>c</SB>][Ni<SB>d</SB>Co<SB>e</SB>][Sn<SB>f</SB>Sb<SB>g</SB>] is generated by holding the solid phase of the intermetallic compound [Ti<SB>a</SB>Zr<SB>b</SB>Hf<SB>c</SB>]<SB>n</SB>[Ni<SB>d</SB>Co<SB>e</SB>]<SB>m</SB>composed of at least one kind of Ti, Zr and Hf and at least one kind of Ni and Co and a liquid phase of at least one kind of Sn and Sb in a state that the both are brought into contact with each other, wherein a, b, c, d, e, f are defined as 0 or positive numbers, and n, m are defined as positive integers, and a+b+c=1, d+e=1, f+g=1, (n, m)=(1, 3), (1, 1) or (2, 1) are satisfied.
