PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector, achieving high-quality image projection by reducing contrast unevenness with a relatively simple structure. SOLUTION: When an illuminating light which is not perfectly uniformed is incident on a liquid crystal panel 41a by diffusing effect of a light diffusion member 44a disposed in a stage prior to the liquid crystal panel 41a, the range or distribution of incident angle of the light is properly uniformed.
