PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker realizing stability feeling of speed during opening a lid, relaxing feeling when stopping, and calmness during a series of opening operations without enlarging a hinge width. SOLUTION: The rice cooker has a pot 2 housed in a body 1, a lid 3 covering the body 1, a hinge shaft 4 pivoting the lid 3 to the body 1, a power source substrate 9 housed in the body 1, a display substrate 14 housed in the lid 3, a flat cable 13 connecting the power source substrate 9 and the display substrate 14, a biasing means 5 biasing the lid 3 toward the opening direction, and a braking means 6 assembled to a hinge shaft 4 and braking the opening of the lid 3, wherein the braking means 6 is arranged between the flat cable 13 and the hinge shaft 4. Consequently, the braking means 6 is operated, and further the braking means 6 is present between the hinge shaft 4 and the flat cable 13, thereby realizing the stability feeling during opening the lid, the relaxing feeling when stopping, and the calmness during the series of opening operations without enlarging the hinge width.
