PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a certain level or more of security strength and suppress power consumption without complicating authentification. SOLUTION: An authentification apparatus 103 is provided with a communication request input part 207 which accepts an input operation to request transmission of authentification data, an authentification data communication part 205 which sends the authentification data and a communication power source control part 206 which controls the power supply to the authentification data communication part 205 in accordance with the input operation by the communication request input part 205. Also, a mobile information terminal 101 is provided with an authentification data collation part 204 that receives the authentification data from the authentification apparatus 103 and determines whether or not the authentification has succeeded, an input part 201 that accepts an input operation, a main processing part 203 that carries out information processing in accordance with the input operation by the input part 201 and a power source management part 202 which controls the supply of the power to the authentification data communication collation part 204 and the power supply to the main processing part 203 in accordance with the input operation by the input part 201 and the determination by the authentification data communication collation part 204.
