PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for performing the controlled cooling of steel bars just after hot rolling uniformly over the entire length. SOLUTION: The system is composed of a means for forming a bar train by arranging the steel bars in parallel, a conveying means for passing an individual bar through a cooling zone by moving the bar obliquely and side by side while rotating the bar around its axis, a fluidized bed tank on the interior of which a normal temperature fluidized bed is mounted as a cooling zone, air blowing nozzle trains arranged in multistage in the conveying direction in parallel to the bar train in the tank, a multistage interception plate train for breaking contact of the bar train with the fluidized bed beneath the bar train and a multistage heat insulating plate train for suppressing heat radiation above the bar train, and the individual bar is cooled over the entire length simultaneously at the same condition and also intermittent cooling is made possible by properly adjusting the contact of the steel bar and the fluidized bed.
