In a boiler arranged such that a combustion gas generated from a burner (101) flows from a furnace (102) through a superheater (SH)(104) and a steam pipe group (105), a downstream shield board (11A) slidable in the vertical direction of the superheater (104) is provided on the slipstream side of the combustion gas above the superheater (104) in order to regulate the flow rate of the combustion gas entering into the upper space A of the superheater (104). The flow rate of a bypass gas (12) is regulated by the downstream shield board (11A) and the flow rate of a main flow gas (13) is regulated, thereby controlling the steam temperature of the superheater (104).
