PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biochip reading device capable of fully attenuating the reflected excitation light which serves as the background light. SOLUTION: This biochip reading device for transmission type is constituted to apply exciting light to a sample and form an image by the fluorescence generated from a fluorescent substance, in the sample via an image-forming optical system to read the image by a light-receiving device. In this biochip reading device, a barrier filter, having the action and effects of allowing the fluorescence generated from the fluorescent substance to pass through it, but attenuating the exciting light that passes through the sample is arranged between the sample in the image forming optical system and an objective lens or directly in front of the light receiver, or at both the positions to let the exciting light, passing through the sample to be incident on the barrier filter at an angle of incidence within±5 degrees.
