PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device capable of operating a shift lever in the shift direction and the select direction substantially orthogonal to each other and simplifying the assembling work. SOLUTION: The shift lever device 1 comprises a lever block 2 to be turned in the select direction d2, and a control block 3 having a first supporting unit 330 capable of inserting a select shaft 20 only in the axial direction and a second supporting unit 340 capable of not only inserting the select shaft 20 in the axial direction but also inserting the select shaft 20 from the predetermined direction orthogonal to the select shaft 20. The lever block 2 is retracted to the second supporting unit 340 side in the axial direction of the select shaft 20 when a shift shaft 30 is not passed through, and capable of drawing the select shaft 20 from the first supporting unit 330. The lever block 2 is regulated in the position in the axial direction of the select shaft 20 and the predetermined direction by the direct or indirect engagement with the shift shaft 30.
