CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR PIECE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

A crystal oscillator piece having a major axis parallel to X-axis and hardly causing leak vibration even though the shape of the cross section of each of the vibration legs is not symmetric and method for manufacturing such a crystal oscillator piece are provided. The crystal oscillator is characterized in that it comprises vibration legs each having a front surface, a back surface having a width greater than that of the front surface, a first side surface, and a second side surface and a balance adjusting groove formed in each vibration leg and in that the first and second side surfaces are so formed that the width of each leg increases from the front surface to the back surface, and the balance grooves are so formed according to the slopes of the first and second side surfaces that at least one of two major axes mechanically perpendicular to the cross section perpendicular to the length direction of the vibration leg and passing through the diagram center is generally parallel to the front or back surface.
