摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a plurality of self-diagnostic information of a rotary encoder with a simple and inexpensive constitution even without any available communication port in a controlling CPU of an electrical control device.

SOLUTION: The rotary encoder is configured to incorporate a fail-safe signal output section 35 connectable with a general-purpose port via a single signal line 36 by outputting self-diagnostic results from a self-diagnostic CPU 25 of the rotary encoder 11 as a duty variable fail-safe signal to the general-purpose port of the controlling CPU 39 of the electrical control device 13.
