OPTICAL FILM WITH REDUCED NUMBER AND SIZE OF GEL

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film exhibiting excellent surface characteristics and its manufacturing process.

SOLUTION: The optical film is formed of an alicyclic olefinic copolymer resin and has the number of gels having a size of ≥30 μm presented on the film surface of a specific area of 640 μm×480 μm of less than 1.5. The manufacturing process of the optical film comprises extruding the alicyclic olefinic copolymer resin under the condition of a unit energy of ≤0.14 kWh/kg calculated by dividing the electric power consumption of the screw-driving motor of the extruder in the melt extrusion step by the amount of the resin extruded per unit time.
