A method for controlling a digital image processing apparatus to manage a face and the digital image processing apparatus using the same are provided to recognize change of the face of a user easily. A method for controlling a digital image processing apparatus to manage a face comprises the following steps of: controlling a live-view state according to a photographing condition stored in an initial image file(S101); acquiring location information of a face range from live-view data(S103); acquiring location information of representative points in the face range of the live-view(S105); controlling the live-view state with reference to the location information of the representative points stored in the initial image file(S107).
