#CMT# #/CMT# A corona discharge station is integrated into the nonwoven fabric or fleece treatment unit and is directly associated with a wet coating roller. The web is brought into contact with a liquid wetting this roller. The roller is partially-immersed in a chemical tank and has its own speed-controlled drive. A conveying system carries the fleece web over the coating roller at defined speed. Other plant equipment includes feed and dosing units, with one or more chemical tanks. Web wetability is improved by the corona treatment. This takes place before wetting the web. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the corresponding method #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Equipment for wet chemical finishing of a hydrophobic nonwoven fleece web using a contact roller. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The basic fleece material is hydrophobic before treatment. Using a simple corona discharge apparatus, it is made hydrophilic at low cost, for the purposes of wet treatment. The aqueous chemical is caused to wet the fleece surface in a uniform and stable manner. Inspiration is provided by e.g. known, broadly-similar methods of causing PVC to be made locally-hydrophilic, for printing purposes. Electrons in the corona discharge, set up a complex, highly-reactive free-radical chemistry, which overcomes hydrophobic surface properties. |
