<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily form a retardation film as compared with the conventional one in a liquid crystal display incorporating the retardation film on a color filter substrate side. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with a liquid crystal display panel having a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal interposed between the pair of substrates. The liquid crystal display panel has a plurality of sub pixels and each sub pixel of the plurality of the sub pixels has a transmission part and a reflection part. One substrate of the pair of the substrates has a light shielding film formed on the boundary between the transmission part and the reflection part and formed so as to have a part enclosing only at least the reflection part, an alignment layer for retardation film alignment formed on the light shielding film, the retardation film formed in the inner part enclosed by the light shielding film on the alignment layer, a color filter formed on the retardation film, and a flattening film formed on the color filter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
