摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which the film thickness of each alignment layer in a light reflection part and a light transmission part is substantially equalized. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes a first substrate and a second substrate that are oppositely arranged through a liquid crystal. In a pixel region of the surface of the liquid crystal side of the first substrate, a light transmission unit including a first translucent pixel electrode and a light reflection unit comprising a non-translucent second pixel electrode are dividedly formed. The first substrate and the second substrate include the alignment layers coming into contact with the liquid crystal, and the second pixel electrode in the light reflection unit includes a step layer formed at a position higher than the first pixel electrode in the light transmission unit with respect to the first substrate. The first substrate has a protrusion formed to surround the circumference of the reflection unit at the boundary between the light reflection unit and the light transmission unit on the surface coming into contact with a lower part of the alignment layer of the light reflection unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
