PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent drive feeling from deteriorating by preventing a speed change shock from occurring at the time of upshifting, and to facilitate making a shift map, in a vehicle equipped with an engine and a transmission to perform transmission control using the shift map. SOLUTION: A speed change stage determination means of a transmission controller determines a speed change stage using a set shift map corresponding to the vehicle velocity and acceleration opening of the engine (S2). The transmission controller is provided with a speed change permissible range map. In the case where a target speed change stage determined by the speed change stage determination means is higher than the current speed change stage, the acceleration of the vehicle is detected to perform speed change of upshifting when the absolute value of the acceleration is small (S7 to S9). Since upshifting is performed at the time when the vehicle acceleration is small, and the transmission torque of power transmission system is small, abrupt deceleration or speed change shock does not occur during speed change, and the drive feeling can be prevented from deteriorating.
