PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain consumption of a rotary anticathode caused by electron beam irradiation in an X-ray generator and an X-ray generating method using the rotary anticathode. SOLUTION: An electron beam is irradiated on the rotary anticathode in a direction of centrifugal force caused by rotation of the rotary anticathode in order to generate X rays, and at the same time, gas for forming a film is supplied to the rotary anticathode, and at least, a film for covering at least an irradiating section of the electron beam and for restraining evaporation from the irradiating section of the electron beam of a structural member of the rotary anticathode, is formed.
