PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shredder realizing the reliable grasp of the compression limit of a heap of shreds stored in its waste bin. SOLUTION: A height sensor 20 that detects the height of a heap of shreds B stored in a waste bin 18 is provided in a middle position between the shredding part 15 and the reception part 5 of a case main body 2. A compression limit sensor 35 that detects that the compression state of the shreds B stored in the waste bin 18 reaches a compression limit is provided in a compression mechanism 21. A detected signal from the height sensor 20 and the detected signal from the compression limit sensor 35 are sent to a control part. When the processed values of both sensors 20 and 35 satisfy set conditions for both sensors 20 and 35 prestored in the control part, the control part outputs a signal indicating that the waste bin 18 is full with shreds B.
