PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine having a baffle which performs operation of hitting washing in a washing step and a rinsing step, which reduces the degree of damage to laundry articles in a dehydrating step, which reduces vibration and noise, and which reduces failure of the dehydrating step. SOLUTION: The drum type washing machine 1 includes a water tub 20, a rotation drum 30 which internally performs washing, rinsing and dehydrating of the laundry articles by rotating around a rotary axis inclined with respect to a horizontal direction within the water tub 20, and a baffle part 35 provided on the inner peripheral wall surface 33 of the rotation drum 30 so as to project from the peripheral wall surface 33. The baffle part 35 has a first lateral face 35a having a recessed surface positioned on the first rotating direction R1 side of the rotation drum 30 and a second lateral face 35b having a projecting surface positioned on the second rotating direction R2 side of the rotation drum 30.
