The damper has a hollow chamber enclosed between a primary part and a secondary part. The chamber is sealed by a sealing unit (4) e.g. lip seal, against external environment. A shield (5) is provided and axially arranged adjacent to the sealing unit and extends over entire sealing points in radial direction. The shield is provided in z-shape in an axial section, and a radially internal bar of the shield is fastened at central disks (2a, 2b). The shield is curved away from the damper in the axial section, and shovels forming closed flow channels are covered by a cover plate.
