PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of detecting the state of image formation at a high speed and with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has: an optically image-forming means which includes a cylindrical lens 301 and optically forms an image of an object; an imaging device 303 which electronically picks up the image of the object formed, by the optically image-forming means; a luminance signal control section 304 which acquires an image signal corresponding to a portion imaged via the cylindrical lens 301 from an imaging screen; and a phase difference image forming section 311 which forms a plurality of phase difference images by using the image signal corresponding to the portion imaged via the cylindrical lens 301.
