PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recorder in which air turbulent flow is suppressed, and impact positions of main drops, small droplets, and satellites which are discharged are desired positions in all the portions of a recording region, so that reduction in quality of recorded images can be suppressed. SOLUTION: In the ink-jet recorder which performs recording with the reciprocal movement of a recording head while discharging an ink, a recovery device 10 is provided with a shutter 9 at substantially the same height as a recording medium 13 passing on a platen 7.
