PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent data from being lost by making a user recognize that the quality of media is deteriorated before the media become impossible in reproduction or writing. SOLUTION: The media control apparatus 10 monitors an error arising when reading or writing after accepting the media and determines whether the quality of the media is deteriorated or not. When explanation is made by enumerating concrete examples, the media control apparatus 10 determines whether or not the number of times for retrying reading for the media, or the number of times that a processing time for a read command exceeds a monitoring time of OS, and a value of a tracking error, a value of a focus error, or a value of a reflected light level exceed respective set thresholds or not. In succession, in a case that the quality of the media is determined to be deteriorated, the media control apparatus 10 prints the fact that the quality of the media is deteriorated on the label surface of the media by a stamp 16 prepared in a solenoid 15.
