PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing device and an information providing method which can retrieve and use a sensor meeting a request of an application. SOLUTION: Types of output information, WSDLs, and attribute information (errors and response times) are stored in an providing par management DB 105 in association with each other by taking providing part IDs of information providing parts 3-1 to 3-3 as keys. An information providing part selection function 104 selects an information providing part 3-i (i is 1, 2, or 3) meeting the request of the application, from the providing part management DB 105 and acquires the providing part ID of the information providing part 3-i and a WSDL from the providing part management DB 105. An information acquisition function 103 acquires information from the information providing part 3-i in accordance with the providing part ID and the WSDL.
