PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device equipped with a shift lock mechanism, having an excellent characteristic that can suppress the operation frequency of the shift lock mechanism at low cost with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The shift lever device 1 comprises: a shift lock link 5 which can be displaced from a lock position forbidding shift operation from a P position to another shift position, and an unlock position allowing the operation from the P position to the other shift position; a solenoid 4 including a plunger 41 which can be displaced to an operation position according to a magnetic force generated by turning on electricity to a coil; and an engagement mechanism 13 interposed between the shift lever 21 and the shift lock link 5 so that if the shift lever is at the P position, displacement of the shift lock link 5 is allowed, meanwhile, if the shift lever 21 is at the other position than the P position, the shift lock link 5 is regulated at the unlock position.
