METHOD FOR DETECTING CRACK OCCURRENCE POSITION

A surface layer (4) made of a composite material is overlaid on a surface (3) of a core layer (2) made of a foam synthetic resin material. An arrestor section (5) for preventing progress of separation between the surface layer (4) and the core layer (2) is provided in an interface region between the surface layer (4) and the core layer (2). Optical fibers (6a, 6b) having grating sections are embedded in the arrestor section (5) so as to extend along the surface layer (4). The position of occurrence of a crack between the surface layer (4) and the core layer (3) is detected by comparing spectra (A, B) of light reflected from the optical fibers (6a, 6b).
