<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an area of a user-desired closed region with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: When a user traces a map area 100 by an electronic pen 10, an electronic pen 10 calculates the coordinates of a traced track at prescribed spacings, generates entry information 250 including the coordinates, and transmits it to a terminal unit 25. The terminal unit 25 receives the entry information 250 from the electronic pen 10, forms the track based on the coordinates data 253 of the entry information 250, and calculates an area on a map of the closed region prescribed by the track.
