<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell-capturing apparatus by which the damage to the cell is reduced to the utmost, and to provide a cell-capturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The cell-capturing apparatus is constituted as follows. A passage 32 divides an opening 33 smaller than the size of the cell 35. A negative pressure-generating unit 16 for generating a negative pressure in the passage 32, and a positive pressure-generating unit for applying a positive pressure to the passage 32 are connected to the passage 32. The negative pressure-generating unit 16 generates the negative pressure in the passage 32. The cell 35 adheres to the opening 33 by the generated negative pressure because of the size of the opening 33 smaller than that of the cell 35. The cell 35 plugs the opening 33. As a result, the cell 35 is captured. On the other hand, the positive pressure-generating unit 16 applies the positive pressure to the passage. The cell is separated from the opening 33 by the action of the positive pressure. The cell 35 opens the opening 33. As a result, the cell 35 can be collected simply.
