PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a configuration space occupying in the lateral direction of two thin-film transistors connected in series in an active matrix panel in a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: Each gate electrode 15 and 16 for the two thin-film transistors 4 and 5 formed in a connection in series is formed by a gate electrode on one side and the gate electrode on the other side in an approximately L-shaped gate electrode. Accordingly, the configuration space occupying in the lateral direction of the two thin-film transistors 4 and 5 can be made smaller than that of two thin-film transistors 4 and 5 that are connected merely in series in the lateral direction and fitted.
