PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor capable of inhibiting an object from being sandwiched between a footstep-side tread and a skirt guard and of paying attention to passengers when there is the object on the footstep-side tread formed on the end portion in the lateral width direction of the tread of a footstep. SOLUTION: This passenger conveyor includes: a plurality of footsteps 2 endlessly connected with each other for circulating throughout platforms, each of which is formed with footstep-side lateral end treads 2a on the end portions in the lateral width direction; movable foot-plates 3, each of which is mounted adjacent to the footstep-side lateral end treads 2a and formed with a footstep-side tread 3a movably toward a lower position in relation to the footstep-side lateral end treads 2a; footstep supporting rails 4 provided along the plurality of footsteps 2 for supporting the footsteps 2; and movable footstep supporting rails 5 installed along the plurality of footsteps 2 for supporting the movable footsteps 3. The footstep supporting rails 4 and the movable footstep supporting rails 5 are arranged so that the footstep-side treads 3a move downward in relation to the footstep-side lateral end treads 2a according to the positions where the footsteps 2 circulate.
