A jacking device (1), includes a base member (4) which is adapted to engage a substrate surface (3); a movable member (5), movable relative to said base member (4), having an upper surface (7) adapted to engage an object to be raised or lowered; a threaded shaft (8) associated with either said base member (4) or said movable member (5); a guide means (9) associated with the other of said base member (4) or said movable member (5), said guide means (9) includes a threaded surface which is adapted to cooperate with said threaded shaft (8); and drive means (10), adapted to rotate said threaded shaft (8) and/or said guide means (9) such that said movable member (5) is permitted to be moved relative to said base member (4) to thereby raise or lower said upper surface. |
