A system, apparatus, and method for updating the user equipment (UE) 's location are provided, which comprise the packet access unit coupled with the packet access network and MSC/VLR in the circuit domain, and the packet access unit could provide the user with the signaling channel between the packet access network and MSC in the circuit domain, as well as functions such as routing messages and so on; the user transmits the location update request to MSC by way of the packet access network via the signaling channel; MSC accepts the location update request, and sends back the location update accept message to the user. With the implementing of the present invention, the user in the packet domain is given support to obtain services from MSC by way of the packet network when he initiates the location update in MSC/VLR, and the provider is facilitated to make the most of the coverage of the packet network to supply the user with various services, which could only be obtained by the access method through the circuit domain in the prior art. |
