Disclosed is a medicinal agent which is effective and highly safe for the prevention or alleviation of peripheral nerve disorder that is developed as an adverse side effect occurring after the administration of an anti-cancer agent. Specifically disclosed is a novel medical use application of an extract from an inflammatory tissue inoculated with a vaccinia virus. More specifically disclosed is a prophylactic or alleviating agent for peripheral nerve disorder, which comprises the extract as an active ingredient. The agent comprising the extract as an active ingredient produces fewer adverse side effects and is highly safe, and is therefore highly useful as a prophylactic or alleviating agent for peripheral nerve disorder induced by the administration of an anti-cancer agent.
