An infra-red flare decoy system for an aircraft comprises a free-flight flare (2) slideable within a cartridge case(1); a rocket-powered flare (3) provided with a rocket motor (25) and slideable within a cartridge case (1); expulsion means (19,34) for expelling each flare from its cartridge case(1); flare ignition means (13,31) for each flare (2,3); and a single system initiation means (41, 42, 43, 44, 35, 24, 26) for controlling the initiation of the expulsion means (19,34), the initiation means (13,31) of both flares, and the initiation of the rocket motor(25). |
