Methods of establishing a common user identity are described, utilising only first-party cookies. The method comprises receiving at a first domain 3 a first request 2 from the client computer 1, transmitting 4 from the first domain 3 to the client computer a first identity for the user associated with the first domain and a first redirection instruction. The first redirection instruction is configured to cause the second domain to transmit 6 to the client a second identity for the user associated with the second domain, wherein the second identity is related to the first identity. A request may also be received at the first domain from a client computer, the request including an identity for the user associated with the first domain, and if the user has an identity associated with a second domain, recording a relationship between the user's identity associated with the first domain and a user's identity associated with a second domain. |
