A window assembly for a caravan, chalet or the like comprises a preferably intgral U-shaped light-alloy extruded frame member forming three sides of the frame, the fourth side being jointed thereto with mitred joints and secured by the aid of screws 7, the fourth frame member or head 2 being the preferably integral combination of a pan section and frame member and comprising an L-section strip or bar having, like the U-shaped frame member, a flange 3 to fit against the wall surrounding the aperture receiving the assembly and a body portion 6 projecting at right angles to the flange 3 and by which the U-shape frame member is secured in the aperture as by screws (16, Fig. 4), inserted from inside the window and the U- shaped frame member having an inner flange providing an abutment for the sash 12 which is hinged to the upper frame member 2 by the interengaging members 8 and 10. The inner flange may carry a sealing strip engaged by the sash in the closed position and the upper rail 12 of the sash may carry a seal strip, squeezed between the sash and head of the frame in the closed position of the formers. |
