A filter for a display device and a display device having the same are provided to improve image quality without an additional process by determining black absorption material and pigment combination according to the optimum color coordinate. A filter for a display device includes a base material(100) and a low refractive layer(200). The base material is made of transparent material. The base material is made of the material like polyethylene terephthalate, triacetyl cellulose, polymethylmethacrylate, and polyvinyl alcohol. The filter includes an absorption layer having the black absorption material. The low refractive layer is used as the absorption layer. The low refractive layer includes the polymer resin and the black absorption material. The low refractive layer prevents the reflection of the external light and performs the function of the absorption layer. The polymer resin of the low refractive layer includes silica-based resin or fluorine-based resin, or a mixture thereof. The carbon black is used as the black absorption material. The carbon black particles form the carbon black layer inside the low refractive layer to correspond to the front of the base material.
