<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve which is used for a microfluidics system. <P>SOLUTION: A valve 50 includes a substrate defining an upstream channel 52 and a downstream channel 54 jointed by a conduit defined by a first opposed wall 74 disposed at an angle to the central axis 60 of the upper channel 52. At least a portion of a thermally responsive substance 56 obstructs the conduit by abutment with the first opposed wall 74.
