PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine for effectively strengthening a forward tumble by using injection fuel. SOLUTION: This cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine has an intake port 3a for forming the forward tumble of air sucked in a combustion chamber via an intake valve, and has a cylinder injection injector 6 for performing a main spray of injecting the fuel in the direction for strengthening the forward tumble and a sub-spray of injecting the fuel at a flow speed slower than that of the main spray into a space of generating rolling-up for restraining the rolling-up in the inverse tumble direction of the fuel by the main spray.
