<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem with a user authentication apparatus that allows inputs by the gesture pattern of a hand or the like wherein, when the same values are inputted in succession, a method of inserting separation patterns is used because of the inability to input successive values if the gesture pattern remains the same, resulting in an increased number of input processes. <P>SOLUTION: A gesture pattern signifying succession is defined, and based on the input of that successive gesture pattern, determination is made that the same value as a value input just before it has been repeated.
