PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device capable of preventing color break-up by using a simple constitution when performing color display according to a field sequential method. SOLUTION: A period of one frame is divided into R, G, B fields corresponding to primary colors of R, G, B. Over a part (or all) of a scanning period of the R field, a pixel is irradiated with light of M (Magenta) color created by mixing light of R color and light of B color of the color component supplied in a scanning period preceding the scanning period of the R field by one, and the pixel is irradiated with only R light in a blanking period of the R field. Also regarding the G, B fields, over a part (or all) of a scanning period, a pixel is irradiated with light of a color created by mixing light of a color component supplied in the scanning period and light of a color component supplied in a scanning period preceding the scanning period by one and, in the blanking period, the pixel is irradiated with only light of a color component of the blanking period.
