PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a higher-performance wide angle lens, an optical device having the same, and a focusing method for the wide angle lens. SOLUTION: The wide angle lens has, in order from an object side, a first lens group G1 having negative refractive power, a second lens group G2 having positive refractive power and a third lens group G3 having positive refractive power. The first lens group G1 has a positive lens L13. By fixing the first lens group G1, and moving the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 to the object side, focusing on an object is performed.
