PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of shortening the member service life due to being unable to perform maintenance in the proper timing, when inconvenience of a variable swash plate cannot be sensed from operation force of a shift lever, since operation force of the movable swash plate is only always indirectly transmitted to the shift lever via hydraulic pressure, in a hydraulic continuously variable transmission having a hydraulic servo mechanism for controlling a swash plate angle of a conventional cradle type movable swash plate. SOLUTION: An external operation tool 18 for operating a shift from an external part is connected via an elastic member 74 to a spool operation tool 42 for sliding a spool 16, and is constituted so that a part 42d of the spool operation tool 42 abuts on a piston 13 after moving the spool 16 up to action positions 79 and 80 from a neutral position 78.
